Flu Shot - Influenza
Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is an infection of the nose, throat, and lungs caused by a virus.
Most people get the flu when they breathe in airborne droplets from a cough or sneeze of someone who has the flu. It can also spread by touching objects where the virus may have been transmitted.
Most people who get sick with influenza recover, but it can sometimes become more serious.
The influenza vaccine is available free of charge. It is especially important for seniors, pregnant women, Indigenous people and people with chronic health conditions as they have a higher risk of complications.
